Assistance Programs

The New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (O.T.D.A) offers many programs to help residents: https://otda.ny.gov/programs/. Two of these programs are listed below.

Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (L.I.H.W.A.P.)

The Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (L.I.H.W.A.P.) helps low income households pay the cost of water and sewer services. The program can assist households who have past due bills (arrears) for water and/or sewer services.

 

Home Energy Assistance Program (H.E.A.P.)

The Home Energy Assistance Program (H.E.A.P.) can help eligible New Yorkers heat and cool their homes. If you are eligible, you may receive one regular H.E.A.P. benefit per program year and could also be eligible for emergency HEAP benefits if you are in danger of running out of fuel or having your utility service shut off. The Home Energy Assistance Program Application PDF: https://otda.ny.gov/programs/applications/3421.pdf.
